Ssshhhhh, don't wake the Beast...
I bought this car late summer of 2004 with the intention of building a drag car. I have since changed my mind several times on what exactly I want out of it. This car was originally an LO3 (5.0L TBI) 5spd car w/ open 3.08 drum'd 10 bolt. I built up the 383 and threw a Holley 750 in her, but I didn't like the unreliability of it. Now it's got a Holley Stealh Ram MPFI intake, LT1 T56 6 speed, 9 bolt w/ 3.70 gears, 4-wheel disc brakes (with '02 LS1 fronts, PBR rears), and MegaSquirt ECU. This car is just violent, stupid fast, and too much for the street. Whatever the future holds for me and this car, I cannot complain. I have learned so much from building, tuning, and modifying it that just being able to drive it down the road every once in a while is enough of a pay off. I don't want to even think about how much money I have invested in this car, so please don't ask :) I did not even know the difference between a crankshaft and a camshaft before I took this motor apart. But with the help of a few books and plenty of friends and co-workers, I built this stupid-fast machine that has become my pride and joy.
I have not run this car at the track yet, but I am hoping for at least low 12s, if not 11s. With the factory suspension withering away, and cheap tires, I cannot get enough traction to say for sure what it will run. |
